The Living New Deal, a nonprofit organization that was established at University of California, Berkeley in 2007, documents, preserves and promotes the New Deal Legacy, through research, publications, talks and tours.
I created this fold-out map and guide to highlight the multitude of New Deal projects around the city of New York. This is one of a series of maps of New Deal sites in U.S. metropolitan areas.
Map of New York City pinpoints locations of hundreds of New Deal sites. Cartography by Molly Roy.
The front cover features a mural by Reginald Marsh in the former U.S. Customs House.
Inside spreads have lists of the New Deal sites in New York that are keyed to the map. This spread features many of the murals and shows a mural at the Williamsburg Houses by Ilia Bolotowsky. Also shown is the mural FLIGHT by James Brooks, at the LaGuardia Airport.
